The NIETOC Individual Event Awards

Main Events
Those competing in Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals will receive trophies.

Supplemental Events
Those competing in Semifinals and Finals will receive trophies.

The NIETOC "Perfect Performance" Award

This award will be given to the highest individual point earner at the NIETOC tournament. Points awarded for finals based on the following:

MAIN EVENTS: Oratory, Humorous, Dramatic, Duo, Duet

FINALISTS
1st 20 points
2nd 18 points
3rd 16 points
4th 14 points
5th 12 points
6th 10 points
SEMIFINALISTS
7th 9 points
8th 8 points
9th 7 points
10th 6 points
11th 5 points
12th 4 points
13th 3 points
14th 2 points

Any additional semifinalsits - 2 points
All quarterfinalists - 1 point

SUPPLEMENTAL EVENTS: Prose, Poetry, Thematic, Sports Broadcasting

FINALISTS
1st 12 points
2nd 10 points
3rd 8 points
4th 6 points
5th 4 points
6th 2 points
 

All supplemental semifinalists (for those in the round prior to finals): 1 point

Ties broken in the following order:

  1. Higher ranks in final rounds
  2. Higher ranks in semifinal rounds
  3. Higher ranks in quarterfinal rounds
  4. Lower cume total in all prelim rounds

The NIETOC "Encore" Team Award

Schools will be divided into three categories:
Act I: 1-3 main event entries

Act II: 4-9 main event entries

Act III: 10 or more main event entries

The top four teams in each Act will be Encore Nominees.
The top scoring team in each Act will be the Encore Recipient.
Team points will be awarded using the same points as above.

The NIETOC Mrs. Josephine Dukes Award

This will be presented to the educator of the year by the NIETOC Executive Committee. More specific criteria is being developed and will be announced at a later date.
